Sub-inspector Deepak Parde (41) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar suffered serious throat injuries after a piece of manja cut deep into his neck. He required 30 stitches and is in the ICU of a private hospital. Doctors described his condition as critical. In Akola, Kiran Sonwane died after his throat was slit by nylon manja. He was on his bike when the nylon manja got tangled around his neck and severed his windpipe. He collapsed on the spot, and was later pronounced dead. In Nagpur, Sohail Khan Salim Khan (23) fell from the 5th floor terrace of a building while flying kites. He was declared ‘brought dead’ at a hospital. Ritesh Gandhshriwar (27) from Hudkeshwar in Nagpur collapsed while chasing a kite. He died later.
